National Hockey Day
Well, today is the day. It's National Hockey Day. Yeah, let's look at the check list to see where I'm at.
Wear NHL gear/colors to work/school: Does wearing a Wisconsin Hockey t-shirt under my clothes count?
Decorate your car: Yeah, not even going to attempt this one, but, does snow count?
Play Hockey!: Pretty safe to say I won't be doing this either. Unless I have a bit of time to play a video, which is a negatory there good buddy.
Go to a game: Though I will watch a ton of college hockey this weekend on TV (including a bit today), this simply isn't an option.
Rally: Um, I don't live anywhere near New York or Toronto, and the last time I checked, it sounded like they didn't have the proper permits for a rally.
So, in short, I may have been like, everyone, take part in this wonderful show of support for hockey at all levels, but did I do any of it? Nope.
Interesting System:
Had the UW lost last weekend to UAA, they would've been ranked 9th in the NCAA, and assured a ticket to the NCAA tournament (maybe even in Minneapolis). However, if they lost last weekend, they would have been knocked out of the WCHA conference tournament this weekend. The way the math worked, no matter what happened in any of the conference tournaments, they wouldn't have budged in position from 9th if they had lost to UAA, because UAA (had they won) would be a Team Under Consideration for the NCAA tournament. UW would have a vast winning record against TUCs if UAA had won. Well, UW won that series (TUC record now right around .500), and was immediately rewarded with a ranking of 11th in the NCAA (win and go down two spots? Interesting). Last night, UW lost to UND (eliminated from the conference tournament), and are now ranked 15th in the NCAA. The only real way UW can get into the NCAAs now, is if there are no upsets in any of the conference tournaments. Interesting.
