More things about Slint and College Hockey:
Hey, I found out that the "untitled" song by Slint, is called "Pam". Check it out... it's one of their more math rock meets the Melvins songs. Pretty heavy. Not like death metal heavy, but heavy.
This past weekend was more of a college hockey binge than the previous "breakaway weekend". Saturday morning, I watched a tape of Michigan plow over UW. My pick was still in tact, but UW was out. UW looked a bit flat and watching the other great team around them. Then I watched DU and Bemidji State, which was a very good game. Bemidji had really kept it close, and DU looked really flat. Then, I watched the ending of the Maine, Minnesota contest, which was pretty high flying scoring chances on both ends sort of affair. Minnesota advanced. Then, it was on to the CC vs Michigan contest, which, by all means, my pick was just that. They looked like an NHL team. 3-0 lead, slowly degraded over 1.5 periods. CC advances to Frozen Four. Pick, gone. Then, it was on to the North Dakota vs Boston College Game. Nodak just rolled over BC.
So what's that? 5 games in one day? Aw yeah. Sweet.
The next day, I didn't see any hockey, but Minnesota beat Cornell, and DU beat New Hampshire to make the first all WCHA frozen four. First time in NCAA history a championship tourney has boiled down to four teams from one conference. History in the making, but I can't help but wishing there was more diversity.
Next year, a regional is in Green Bay, and the Frozen Four in Milwaukee. I'd love to take vacation at that time, and get tickets for all those games. Then I wouldn't be stuck watching the tube... I'd be there.
