Macilemijocamu: Songs
Here are links to songs that xkachoojix and I created in a marathon recording session this past weekend. Each of the songs started with drum programming, and we wrote melodies over the top. Pretty random, but effective. Macilemijocamu has been going for, um, over a year and a half, and is a duo consisting of xkachoojix and myself. We usually write songs collaboratively over the internet, but I think it worked much better with us in the same room. If you'd like to see a panoramic collage of our studio setup (and examples of Kasha quickly becoming adjusted to being a studio cat), go to my Flickr account page.
Drummen: This song started with drum programming by xkachoojix. Then came xkachoojix with the bass line, and then came the guitar line, and keyboard line which I created. Cut and paste, mix and "master". Probably one of the poppier songs we've done. Poppy for all you pop addicts.
Chump Change: This song started with drum programming by moi, which consisted of pretty strange, disjointed beats, with a simple overtone. I smashed 4/4 and 3/4 together, though, you can't really tell because the 3/4 is super random. Speaking of random, I used an effect to get random slices and reverses of the beat, so it gave it another random dimension. xkachoojix came up with the beginning guitar line, and the bridge guitar line (random 3/4 part) that I interpreted, and laid down. It took me an hour and a half to lay down the 3/4 part with all its down beats and off beats. Eventually, I had to boil it down by making a separate scratch track with a snare on all the beats I was supposed to play on. Now that I've heard it quite a bit, I probably wouldn't need the scratch track, though with an hour and a half of messing around, it was time to do something drastic. I created the part b guitar line, with a different interval on the harmonizer (mostly I use octave down, this was like a third down instead), so this song probably wouldn't be able to be played altogether too easily. xkachoojix came up with the bass line which took almost no time at all (compared to my hour and a half freak out session), I finished up with the keyboard part, and we called it a night. Sounds like a gun commercial. Should appeal to techno-ites, industrialites, and Doom players.
Jones Soda Hangover: As Sunday morning quickly vanished, we created this. We both had a had in the drum programming. xkachoojix programed the first section, and we both collaboratively smashed the other parts together. Real math rock like. I laid down the guitar lines first, and then xkachoojix did the bass parts. We once again laid down keys, and bam, cut, paste, mix, "master". Neither of us have ever been hungover, but I bet this is what it feels like.
Sidenote: If you want to subscribe to a podcast of whatever I place in my Ourmedia account, that's compatible with podcasts, point your favorite podcast client to this address: http://www.ourmedia.org/mediarss/user/14841 iTunes is the one I use... just go to the advanced menu, and subscribe to podcast, and paste that address in there, and voila... you should have everything from my ourmedia account in there... also, ourmedia seems much faster now-a-days. Our songs were published as soon as I uploaded them.
