Get rid of remorse:
I don't know what's come over me lately, but for some reason, I've been thinking about my second guitar I had. Why did I get rid of it? What the heck was I thinking trading it in on a Hamer Slammer series? Mind you, the Hamer's 24 frets were utilized quite a bit in studio sessions, but is that really a good enough reason to get rid of a Fender Jaguar? I think the thing that's bugging me about it right now, is the fact that I can't remember a lot of the details about that guitar. Was it a Japanese version? It had to be, there's no way I could have gotten a Jaguar that was $1000. My Les Paul wasn't even $1000. I do remember something regarding getting my haircut though, wherein I got the guitar because I cut my hair. I also remember the problems the thing gave me, like not being able to fret some strings, having trouble stringing the guitar, and the saddles corroding. Looking back on it, that was because I needed to set up the guitar, not because it was a bad guitar. I had problems with the saddles because they were made poorly. I could have gotten Mustang saddles, and voila, great saddles, no problems, like $20 out. I could have also had the guitar setup, and voila, no problems in regards to fretting strings. All I know, is that thing was a classic. How did I ever get rid of a classic to get something that was so dated, and ended up falling apart anyway? Well, put salt in the wound. Japanese Fender Jaguars are worth more now, about 15 years later, than they were when they were sold in 1990. I've gone guitar nuts as of late, and I'm not really sure why.
My telecaster really needs to be setup, badly. I can't fret below the second fret anymore. Luckily, I don't really use it in CLD, so it's not an issue. I'm going to try doing the setup myself (assuming I get the right tools), otherwise, I'll take it in, and get it setup for $30. Personally, I'd rather do it myself, and teach myself along the way.
Tonight, when I get home, I'm going to take my first jump into the waters of BitTorrent. There's a video of the Slint show in Louisville circulating, and I'm really interested. I think if I learn quickly enough, some CLD stuff will be on BitTorrent (our first couple of shows), but then again, I really have no idea what the heck I'm doing, so it might not happen at all. All the FAQs I've read about torrents confuse the crud out of me, though strikes me as a very cool concept. Kind of like social bandwidth, or something...
As a side note, I really want to write some new instrumental music, for myself. How do I get time to do that?
